We were contracted by Journal Communications Inc. to develop the new website for the Tennessee Farm Bureau. Working closely with Journal Communications and their designer we developed a site that facilitates the Tennessee Farm Bureau communications with their many members and customers using video, images and audio.

The Tennessee Farm Bureau site was developed using Drupal 6 and has many custom modules and features. We worked very hard to meet Drupal development standards and best practices to make sure Tennessee Farm Bureau was a successful site.

Media

Tennessee Farm Bureau's media player utilizes SoundManager 2 for audio playback. SoundManager 2 is a Javascript based media player that is cross platform and highly functional. We integrated it directly with the Audio content type and associated views for displaying and playing back audio on the site. Custom views were written to provide access to the client’s Farm Bureau Radio archives. Lastly, we developed a process to import over 1000 mp3 audio files from their previous content management system into the Drupal based CMS.

We also integrated tightly with the Tennessee Farm Bureau’s required video hosting solution, Brightcove. This was a great experience and we would highly recommend Brightcove to other people looking for a video solution to work with Drupal. Although we evaluated the Brightcove recommended contributed module, we opted to develop a custom module to provide this integration. Brightcove’s API documentation and solid functionality is a dream to work with and integrate to.

Custom Dropdown Menus

Tennessee Farm Bureau's design calls for a highly stylized menu. For that we utilized the Nice Menus contributed module. Nice Menus is a great module for drop down menu effects and works nicely across many browsers. Most of the work entailed finding the proper overrides and utilizing them.

Fancy Slideshows

We've had a long history with Drupal and slideshow functionality. Many of our customers have wanted custom slideshows that (at the time) contributed modules could not provide. We would frequently develop custom Views style plugins. Tennessee Farm Bureau requirements weren't as heavy as many of our previous developments, so we were able to utilize the popular Views Slideshow module and performed some minor custom theming and styling to match the required look and feel.

Calendar

Tennessee Farm Bureau has a fairly custom calendaring solution in place, complete with event pop-ups, specialized navigation, event maps and reminders for end users. We utilized the Calendar and Signup modules to provide the basic functionality and performed custom theming, stying and configuration to match the requirements laid out in the client’s design.
